Why Does Makima Fear Chainsaw Man?

Why Makima feared Denji in Chainsaw Man

Denji, who is also known as the Chainsaw Devil, finds himself at odds with one of the most powerful Devils in the series: Makima, the Control Devil in Chainsaw Man. Despite Makima’s overwhelming power and influence, she always had an underlying fear toward Denji and the Chainsaw Devil. This fear wasn’t obvious at first, but as the story progressed, it became clear that Makima had a very real reason to be afraid of Chainsaw Man.

Throughout the series, Makima seemed invincible, however, her fear of Chainsaw Man ran deeper than just Denji’s raw power. It was tied to what the Chainsaw Devil represented and the unique ability it possessed. But why exactly did someone as powerful as Makima fear Chainsaw Man so much?

Chainsaw Man’s Power To Erase Devils From Existence

One of the key reasons Makima feared Chainsaw Man was because of the Chainsaw Devil’s unique power to erase Devils from existence. Unlike other Devils who could be killed and eventually reincarnated, the Chainsaw Devil had the terrifying ability to consume Devils and erase their existence entirely. This meant that once a Devil was eaten by the Chainsaw Devil, they wouldn’t come back in any form, effectively wiping them from both life and death.

Makima, as the Control Devil, was deeply aware of this power. She knew that Chainsaw Man could erase even the most powerful Devils without leaving a trace. This was something that frightened her, as no matter how strong or influential a Devil might be, they were not immune to being erased by Chainsaw Man.

Chainsaw Man: The Hero of Hell

Another reason for Makima’s fear was the Chainsaw Devil’s reputation as the 'Hero of Hell.' In the world of Chainsaw Man, the Devils in hell feared the Chainsaw Devil because of its ability to wipe out other Devils. Whenever Chainsaw Man appeared in Hell, he was known for wreaking havoc everywhere.

Makima thrived on controlling those around her, manipulating both Devils and humans to achieve her goals. However, Chainsaw Man’s chaotic nature and destructive tendencies made it impossible for her to exert control over him. The Chainsaw Devil’s unpredictable behavior and overwhelming power made it a force that couldn’t be easily controlled.

Chainsaw Man Could Undo Makima’s Plans

Makima’s fear of Chainsaw Man also stemmed from her understanding that he was the one Devil who could undo all of her plans. Throughout the series, Makima worked tirelessly to manipulate Denji and the world around him, trying to bend the Chainsaw Devil to her will.

However, she was always aware that if she lost control of Chainsaw Man, everything she had worked for could be destroyed in an instant. Makima wanted to use Chainsaw Man’s power for her own purposes, seeing him as the key to creating her ideal world. However, if Chainsaw Man resisted her control or acted against her, he could destroy everything she had built.

Denji’s Humanity Was An Unforeseen Threat

Interestingly, while Makima feared the Chainsaw Devil’s power, she underestimated Denji’s humanity. Throughout the series, Makima focused on manipulating Chainsaw Man’s raw power and doesn’t see Denji as a significant threat. However, Denji’s human emotions and relationships ultimately played a crucial role in Makima’s downfall.

Makima viewed Denji as nothing more than a pawn to control the Chainsaw Devil, but Denji’s love for his friends and his desire for a normal life were things that Makima couldn’t fully grasp. In the end, it was Denji’s humanity, his love for others, and his sense of self, that allowed him to defeat Makima. Denji’s ability to think and act independently was something Makima didn’t account for, and it proved to be her undoing.

Final Verdict: Chainsaw Man Was Makima’s Greatest Fear

Why Makima fears Denji the Chainsaw Man

Makima’s fear of Chainsaw Man was rooted in the Chainsaw Devil’s overwhelming power, its ability to erase Devils from existence, and its unpredictable nature. As the Control Devil, Makima cashed in on controlling others, but Chainsaw Man represented a force she couldn’t fully control.

This lack of control, combined with the Chainsaw Devil’s terrifying power, made Chainsaw Man the one entity that could truly threaten her existence.
