C initially thought of labeling the second team as traitors, but Klaus assured him that he could handle it alone. Klaus then told Lily's group about the second team's activities. Thea, who wanted to be a spy, became the leader of the team left behind.

However, Thea's team (Monika, Erna, and Annette) had a bad reputation for poor teamwork. Seeking advice from Klaus, Thea learned to be more direct with her teammates. Using her unique ability to understand people's desires, Thea won over Erna and Annette, although Annette's amnesia made her unsure about her own aspirations.

Meanwhile, Monika devised a plan to trap Klaus by manipulating the mansion's faucets and creating a diversion. As Klaus decided to join Lily on her quest to find Thea's team, Annette's crew was surprised by the sudden appearance of a woman claiming to be Annette's mother at the pool.

The situation became more dangerous when Klaus and Lily found out that spies from Lylat and Galgad had recently fought in the city. The woman, Matilda Barbet, revealed herself as a mechanic from Lylat. Thea agreed to let Matilda have supper with her daughter, hoping it would inspire Annette to improve as a spy. During supper, Thea and her group noticed Matilda being followed and helped her escape from the assailants.

Matilda explained that she was targeted by debt collectors because her toolbox was taken. She was tricked into pawning her passport to get it back. Thea's crew decided to assist in recovering Matilda's toolbox. However, Monika discovered Matilda's passport, which revealed she was a Galgad spy using a false name.
