Demon Slayer's Swordsmith Village arc has been released, and the Twelve Kizuki fans are already drooling over the meeting of the Upper Moons. It had been 113 years since the last Upper-Rank meeting was held, and now the death of Upper-Rank Six compelled Muzan to call for the Upper Moons. This is where we witness the presence of Upper Moon 4, Hantengu, for the first time.

Who is Hantengu

Hantengu is a shapeshifting Demon whose appearance varies with each form. In his basic form, he is a short, frail man with a thin, skeletal body covered in veins and wrinkles. He has a bump on his head with two curved horns, narrow squinting eyes, and shoulder-length wavy hair. He wears a dark kimono, black hakama pants, and zori.

Hantengu has the ability to split his body into multiple copies, each with its own independent consciousness and abilities. He uses this power to confuse and overwhelm his opponents, making him a formidable opponent for the Demon Slayers. In addition to his splitting ability, Hantengu is also able to manipulate the emotions of those around him, making them experience intense fear or anger.

In battle, Hantengu uses his splitting ability to create confusion and chaos. He can split his body into multiple copies, which can attack from different angles, making it difficult for his opponents to defend themselves. He can also use his copies to deceive his opponents by making them believe they have defeated him, only to have one of his other copies attack them from behind.

Another ability that Hantengu possesses is the power to manipulate the emotions of those around him. He can create illusions of intense fear or anger in his opponents, which can weaken their resolve and make them easier to defeat. In addition to his unique abilities, Hantengu is also a skilled fighter with his blades. He wields a pair of curved swords that he can use to attack his opponents with precision and speed.

Hantengu was a notorious criminal who committed several heinous crimes, including theft and murder. He often deceived people by claiming that his Hands were responsible for his actions, indicating that he suffered from mental instability and delusions.

Eventually, a high-ranking law official captured him and sentenced him to death by decapitation. Despite his claims of innocence, he was threatened with having his hands cut off. While awaiting execution, he was approached by Muzan Kibutsuji, who turned him into a Demon. After his transformation, Hantengu escaped prison and killed the magistrate who had sentenced him to death. However, the magistrate had warned him that his past actions would ultimately determine his fate.

Hantengu's Blood Demon Art allows him to create multiple personalities of himself, each with its own intellect and features. He is able to create multiple clones of himself, and each one of the clones is as powerful as an Upper-Rank Demon. This feature of his Blood Demon Art makes Hantengu a formidable opponent, capable of fighting on par with some of the strongest Demons in the world.

However, his primary personality, or his base form, that we are normally shown in the series is that of a fearful and apprehensive individual. When not utilizing his Blood Demon Art, he exhibits a paranoid demeanor and believes that he is blameless while the world is out to harm him. Hence, Hantengu is frequently seen displaying signs of anxiety and trepidation.
