Demon Slayer: Season 3 Episode 6 Reveals Genya's Dark Past

Demon Slayer's Swordsmith Village Arc has really succeeded in keeping the viewers on the edge of their seats with the release of each episode. The latest episode 6 has made it quite clear that beheading all the clones of Hantengu would not kill him.

So Genya goes on to look for the body of a 5th Demon that Tanjiro sensed through his smell. They were confident that it was the main body that controlled the other Demons. However, as Genya fails to kill the 5th Demon, Sekido attacks him from the back, and he gets a flashback of his life as if he is about to die. The flashback we saw was not a happy one, and it reveals the dark past about Genya's life.

What Happened In Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 6?

As Tanjiro uses Hinokami Kagura to behead Sekido, Urogi, and Karaku, he looks for Aizetsu so he can behead him and finish off Hantengu. To his surprise, Genya had already beheaded Aizetsu, but the Upper Rank 4 was still not defeated.

Tanjiro senses the smell of another Demon nearby. He asks Genya to cover him while he goes to kill off the 5th Demon. However, Tanjiro is interrupted by Urogi, who has regenerated. So Tanjiro asks Genya to find the 5th Demon.

Genya does so and goes after the main body. He looks for the body for a while and finally finds him on the ground, as Hantengu is the size of a mouse. Genya follows Hantengu, who is surprisingly fast. He, however, manages to land a strike on Hantengu's main body.

But his attempts go to waste as his katana snaps in two pieces. That is when he is about to be attacked by Sekido, who intends to protect the main body. Genya thinks it is his end and remembers what happened when he was a child.

Demon Slayer Reveals Genya's Dark Past

Sanemi was the eldest sibling, and Genya was the 2nd eldest in a family that consisted of seven children. The Shinazugawa siblings grew up with an abusive father who would beat up the children and his wife anytime he was around. However, he was stabbed to death by one of his rivals.

That is when Genya and Sanemi vowed to protect their family. However, their situation took a turn for the worse when their mother did not return home one night, and Sanemi left to search for her. Left alone and filled with doubt and fear, the siblings were interrupted by a sudden knock on their door.

Despite Genya's warnings that it may not be their mother, four of his siblings rushed to answer it. Unfortunately, before he could react, the door was violently sliced open, and the siblings were immediately attacked and killed. The door was knocked by their mother, who had been turned into a Demon.

Genya, who witnessed the bloodshed, was traumatized and in shock. He is on the verge of being attacked by his mother; however, Sanemi protects him by interfering. Later, Genya frantically searched for a doctor for his five siblings but stumbled upon Sanemi instead, who was standing over their dead mother's body.

In his state of confusion and panic, Genya accused Sanemi of being responsible for their mother's death. He cradled her lifeless body in his arms, mourning her loss as the sun began to rise. However, in the present, Genya seemed to be filled with regret over blaming his brother Sanemi for death, who was actually protecting him from their Demon-Turned mother.
